I have been working with stone for 22 years. I started carving stone on a BA in Visual Arts at Lancaster University. I then went to Weymouth College where I did a City and Guilds in Stone Masonry after which I began working as a stone mason and carver in Bristol, Bath and London.
Following a move to Australia, I worked as a stonemason in Sydney and began to work as a sculptor. I have worked independently making figurative sculpture, both functional and non functional sculpture, for private gardens and in the public domain. These commissions have included fountains, relief carvings, diving stones, sundials and waterbowls.
I have had solo exhibitions with the Australian National Trust. I also exhibited in the Royal Botanic Gardens Sculpture Show, and had work in many group art shows as well as national horticultural shows.
I also have had numerous commissions for commemorative work, for cemeteries as well as letter cutting for public memorials in parks and city plazas.
I have a diploma in landscape design. I have worked with Landscape Architects, Councils and private clients.
I have taught vocational stone carving to adults in Community and Technical Colleges for the past 12 years.
I am now working in France in the Midi Pyrenees carving the wide variety of excellent local stone.
